Board of Christian education

CERTIFICATE OF PROGRESS PROGRAM CLASSES

The Board of Christian Education will sponsor a class entitled Doctrine of the Holy Spirit. This class is being taught at Noon Day Bible Study and during Wednesday Night Family Bible Study.  All those who complete 10 hours of attendance and class participation will receive credit through the National Sunday School Publishing Board.   We are using “The Person and Work of the Holy Spirit” by R. A. Torrey. The book cost is $15.  See a representative in each session to purchase your book. Other options to access the reading can be found here.

MEMORIAL DAY PARADE PARTICIPATION

The Board of Christian Education plans to participate in the City of East Orange’s Annual Memorial Day Parade held on Monday, May 26th.  This will give our church the opportunity to evangelize and to seek disciples.  The attire will be jeans/blue slacks, New Hope t-shirt, and sneakers or comfortable walking shoes. If you are interested in being a parade participant, please sign up on the sheets in the lobby or by clicking here. A head count is needed by Sunday, May18th.  Transportation is limited.  Those who wish to drive their own vehicle in the parade must indicate that on the sign-up sheet.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

Attention All Parents/ Guardians: The Board of Christian Education is in the process of planning a week-long Vacation Bible School Camp entitled “The Jesus Connection: Downloads from Heaven” It will be held from Monday, July 7th - Friday, July 11th from 8 am - 6 pm.  Spacing is limited to 30 children/youth ages 4-17.  Plans are to do Bible Study and bible related activities in the morning and go on short trip each afternoon.  All trip costs are to be paid by the parent/guardian in advance. If you are interested in having your child to participate, please sign them up on the sheets in the lobby or sign up here as a head count is needed.  The deadline to sign up is Sunday, May 25th.

widows & widowers

We would like to invite our Widows & Widowers to dinner and a play on Thursday, June 12, 2025, with Pastor Williams and the Deacons. The Dinner will start at 1:30 pm, and the show will begin at 5:00 pm in Newark. All those who are interested should sign up in the lobby or click here.

DECOR MINISTRY

Get ready for the annual Pre-Mother’s Day Soiree on May 3, 2025 at the Chandelier in Belleville, NJ. The cost is $50. This year we will have more surprises.

Ongoing Announcements:

  • NEW MEMBERS: For those who have not started their new member’s classes and those who have yet to complete their classes, there is a class taught every Sunday at 9:30 am in the chapel except on a 5th Sunday in the month. There is no class held on 5th Sundays. There is a class on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Sunday, for a total of 4 classes to be completed before baptism and the right hand of fellowship. You can start a class on any Sunday based on your schedule. Each teacher can explain the completion process if you have any questions.

  • VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Are you a licensed CDL Driver willing to volunteer for Church Bus pick up on Sunday mornings? If so, please contact the church office at 973-678-6710.

  • CALLING ALL YOUTH! Join us each Wednesday for a fun and inspiring time with Youth Ministry! We have exciting activities planned just for you. The Youth Ministry meets on Wednesdays from 5-7 pm. Bring a friend, and let’s grow together in faith, creativity, and fellowship! We can’t wait to see you there!

  • SUNDAY SCHOOL: The Adult Sunday School Class meets in the sanctuary every Sunday at 9:30 am. School Sunday Lesson Commentaries may be prepaid in advance after Sunday School. The cost per commentary is $20.00. Online Sunday School Classes for Adults, Children, and Youth can be found on the New Hope Facebook Page.

  • BIBLE STUDY: Noon Day Bible Study on Wednesdays isn’t just for seniors; it’s for adults of all ages. Wednesday Night Family Bible Study starts at 5 pm for the children/youth, followed by the adults at 7 pm. Come and join us as we study God’s word together.  Pick the time of study that is best for you.
